Tips on Building Confidence
This week’s edition of catch up focuses on building confidence which is the foundation to being successful. There are probably a thousand and one ways to boost your confidence, but we will be focusing on just a few.
- Accept who you are: 99 out 100 times we spend our time trying to be someone else because we don’t like to look different, sound different, think differently and etc. But guess what? It’s okay to look different or think differently because that’s the only way you can make a difference.
- Be yourself: This step comes easy once you have accepted who you are. One way to be happy and successful in life is to care less about what people think or not think. The more you care the more you give people the power to decide who or what you should be, which is in fact a version 2 of someone else. Why would you want to be a modified version when you can actually be the original version of yourself? Make people get used to who you are and you will never have to worry
- Embrace solitude: I once read and I quote “those who are NOT frightened by solitude will have a different taste. They will discover the love that might otherwise arrive unnoticed, they will understand and respect the love that left them, they will be able to decide whether it is worth asking that love to come back or if they should let it go, they will learn that saying “no” does not mean lack of generosity and that “yes” is not always a virtue”. The bottom line is, in life you will not always have people on your side. That a friend has a different opinion doesn’t make you less smart, that a significant other walks out of your life doesn’t make you a bad person and that a boss disagrees with your idea doesn’t make you incompetent.
Remember, “be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
― Bernard M. Baruch

I totally agree with this!
Efforts without confidence=No results, period!
In an interview, one must be confident of what one claim to have capability to offer. Else, it will be difficult for the interviewer to agree with your claims.
